Omicron varient of COVID-19
On November 26, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) identified the B.1.1.529 variant "Omicron" as a variation of corona.
There are more than 30 distinct mutations in the Covid-19 spike protein in the B.1.1.529 'Omicron' form, which makes the transmission of the disease more efficient.
Common Symptoms of Omicron
Loss of speech or mobility
Difficulty in breathing
“ In order to better understand the possible effect of this variation on our current countermeasures, including vaccinations, WHO is collaborating with technical partners. “
Patients with severe COVID-19 may still be effectively treated with corticosteroids and IL6 receptor blockers. In the wake of the Omicron variant's alterations to portions of the virus, other therapies will be analysed to determine whether they are still as successful.
