The AP Defensive Player of the Year award was given to T.J. Watt 

Watt is a talented defensive end for the Houston Texans.

He has been a starter since his rookie year in 2011 and has been a force to be reckoned with ever since


In 2016, he had an impressive season with 16 sacks and five passes defended



He became the first player in NFL history with at least 10 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and five passes defended in three consecutive seasons.

J.J. Watt's career highlights include a 20.5-sack season in 2012 and a 16-sack season in 2014, both of which led the NFL at the time. ”

He also has been named Defensive Player of the Year three times (2011, 2012, 2014) and to five Pro Bowls (2012-2015).

In addition, he has been named an All-Pro twice (2012-2013) and was elected to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for his accomplishments from 2010-2014.
